Henry V at The Westpac Trust Stadium

posted Nov 9, 2016, 12:06 AM by Sites Manager

Tawa School were fortunate to be involved in the ninety-minute version of Henry V which was performed at The Westpac Trust Stadium.  Approximately 250 primary school students participated in this event along with some Tawa School students.

Tawa School students were directed by Kerryn Palmer, with mentoring by Co-Director appointed by SGCNZ, Ania Upstill.

Eight primary schools and a homeschool group rehearsed their scenes independently and came together on Tuesday 8 November in the morning for their first run through. Their public performance began at 12.30pm.

The production was part of Shake Alive 2016 - the celebration of the 25th anniversary of SGCNZ and the commemorations of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. Westpac Stadium generously partnered with SGCNZ to facilitate this event, along with the British High Commission, as part of its Shakespeare Lives programme.

DanceSplash 2016

posted Nov 10, 2015, 12:51 PM by Unknown user   [ updated Sep 10, 2016, 6:26 PM by Trena Sharpes ]

Thursday 1st September was a wonderful opportunity for many students from Tawa School to participate in DanceSplash at the Michael Fowler Centre. Students put in many hours of practice to prepare for the concert which included performances from all over the Lower North Island. Students had to create an original dance piece with costumes and stage settings.

A big thank you to the parents who came along in support and assistance. Also to Jason Ward and Kayla Carruthers who organised the Tawa School DanceSplash group. The event was a great way for the Wellington Region schools to come together and celebrate dance and community.
